Sankalpa is a yoga practice that involves making a positive intention or resolution to align with one's true purpose.  The word comes from Sanskrit and translates to "intention" or "resolve".

Here are some aspects of the practice of sankalpa:
  • What it is
A heartfelt statement that reflects one's true nature or a specific intention to move forward.
  • How it's used
Sankalpa is often repeated mentally at the beginning and end of a yoga practice, or at other times like just after waking up or just before falling asleep.
  • How it's created
A sankalpa is a short, concise phrase that's expressed in the same way each time. It can be a heartfelt desire or a specific intention.
  • How it's used in yoga
Sankalpa helps guide one's focus and energy during yoga practice, and can help break away from old habits.
  • How it's used in daily life
Sankalpa can be used to enhance the yoga experience and extend its influence into daily life.

We will spend the time practicing pranayama (breath/energy work) and meditating on our intention.

This session is an offering from our teacher Véronique, your loving donation in any amount is appreciated.  Please take a moment to register .

For this workshop, we sit between the holidays ... would you like to leave everything behind for a couple of hours?

Come, seek refuge at Sanctuary Yoga.  You will relax, become quiet, let go and be fed body & soul.  From the giver, become a receiver.  By allowing yourself to be cared for, you will come to appreciate how your efforts in the world affect and nourish those around you.

This will be a very quiet couple of hours with restorative practices for most of it, then some very slow flows and a return to stillness at the end.  We will play music, read poetry and say things that nourish the layers of our being.

For more information, contact Véronique Jewell via phone (269) 598-2083 or email [email protected].
