Suggestions for Practice

*Please do not eat 1 1/2 - 2hrs. before coming to class. It is best to practice Yoga on an empty stomach.

*Please wear loose fitted comfortable clothing, but not baggy, as we need to see your alignment in postures.

*Please leave your cell phone in your car, or at home, as we can forget to turn them off, and it will disturb the peace of the practice if it rings.

*Please avoid being late to class. Being late disturbs others and causes you to have trouble finding your center. Some instructors will lock the doors at the time class begins. If you do enter late, please quietly wait to enter class until after the centering portion of the class has ended.

*Please try to avoid leaving before shavasana (relaxation). If you must leave, take time to relax briefly before leaving.

*Please avoid leaving during Shavasana. This can be disruptive to others trying to relax. IF you must leave early, relax briefly then leave before Shavasana begins.

*Please avoid chatting to others during class. Talking during practice can be very disruptive to others in class, and does not allow you to bring your focus inward.

*Avoid sipping water during class, unless you have a medical condition, or are pregnant. Yoga heat is detoxifying your body, drinking water only cools the body down allowing the slowing of the detoxification process.

*Food, drink, purses, coats, and shoes are not allowed in the practice area. Please remove your shoes and place them in the closet space provided.

*Because we at Sanctuary believes that EVERYONE can do Yoga, we practice in a comfortable room temperature environment. We do not turn our heat up to high temperatures based on Ayurvedic principals, and contraindications of student's possible health issues, or concerns*

Meditation
Learn different ways to meditate. Each meditation will be 1/2 hour long.
Learn: guided, voice(mantra or chanting), and sound with a singing bowl.
See how the use of this practice can bring peace and balance into your life.

Level I (Introduction to Yoga)
For beginning students focusing on the "foundation" of primary postures and breathing techniques, creating stability within.

Level II
For continuing students who want to deepen their practice through intermediate postures, breathing and meditation.

Rejuvenate
This is a community class for those wanting to unwind and rejuvenate in a positive way after a long work week.

Pilates Fusion
This class combines the very best strengthening exercises from the work of Joseph H. Pilates along with traditional core stability training and ballet sculpting movements. If you want long lean legs, a tight tush and strong and sculpted abdominals, this is the workout for you! You will not spend the entire class on the mat as ballet sculpting movements will be integrated to focus on also reshaping the bottom half. Be prepared to move while learning to train those smaller muscle groups to achieve that long lean physique you’ve always desired. Any level can participate and all will walk away improving posture, alignment and total body strength.

Tai Chi Basics and Beyond
Learn the zero impact, meditative, graceful, and flowing movements and postures of the Yang form of Tai Chi. BEGINNERS WELCOME! There will be a $10 drop in fee for this class. Please wear flat shoes, tennis shoes are fine, just no heals.

Some benefits Tai Chi practioners enjoy are:
  • enhanced circulation to the skin & other organs
  • improved posture, balance, and coordination
  • enhanced energy flow
  • improved muscle tone, especially in the legs
  • self defense applications
